Ceiling looks as if spots were missed, blotchy.

I painted my ceiling with Behr Ceiling Paint and a good Purdy roller. When the paint dried the ceiling looked blotchy as if spots were missed all over the ceiling. What could cause this?

  1. Apparently the substraight was less than perfect… you now need to Prime all using a Pigmented Shellac Sealer Primer, then finish coat, but use Sherwin Williams Classic-99 acrylic (use a flat sheen for most surfaces)… also when you ROLL… are you "working" the roller, trying to get coverage? This is a no no… let the Paint “flow” generously as you Roll… Learn Proper Rolling Technique here: //davmagic.com/paint/PAGES12.html and here: davmagic.com/paint/PAGES15.html

  2. Might be simple as needing another coat. We have found ceiling paints to be difficult to use, not providing good coverage when applied by roller. Dave’s right, technique is very important. Check out Dave’s articles as well as articles here to learn more about proper paint rolling technique and apply another coat. Good Luck!!
