Acrylic urathane on brass.

share

I’ve cleaned a brass surround on a hole-in-the-wall fireplace and the advice on the internet suggests that acrylic urathane seems to be the best lacquer to apply to stop it re-tarnishing. In your experience could clear acrylic urathane also be used on brass.

  1. Yes, clear acrylic urethane can be used on brass to protect it from tarnishing. Acrylic urethane is known for its durability and resistance to heat, moisture, and UV rays, making it an excellent choice for sealing metals like brass. It will create a protective barrier that will help prevent tarnishing and keep the brass looking shiny and new. Just make sure to clean the brass thoroughly before applying the urethane to ensure a smooth and even finish.
