Cabot Semi-Solid Oil Based Wood Stain Exterior

share

Got two cans of a very dark gray semi-solid wood stain but when applied to yellow pine boards it is too dark. What do you suggest?

I was looking for a weathered look, gray or really a bark color that would blend right into the trees. Could I combine a color to get a bark color like a taupe that has some
tan in it? Please help. It looks like I really wanted a light tan gray color. Could I add a color to achieve this?

  1. It might be possible to mix a white or light colored stain into your existing stain. But, it’s impossible to know what the final color might be. Plus if you don’t have enough stain then simply buying more is impossible.

Whenever possible it’s best to use your preferred color mixed at the paint store, choosing the appropriate color from the ones available from the manufactures color charts.

Make sure to test any color you want to use before committing to the entire project. Purchasing a small sample can is better that several gallons and winding up with the wrong color.
