When you say "Refinishing' I assume that the surfaces are currently Stained and Varnished…
Strippers require lots of scraping etc… try a "Furniture Refinisher Product" which is also available from Home Depot… it is much easier to use…
OR you always can resort to PAINTING the Door… in which case you need to Prime it first with an Oil Base Primer… Good Luck!
If your current stripper/remover isn't working use a stronger product. Dad's Easy Spray paint stripper works well, there are others that are stronger. The more caustic products also have strong solvent odor, be prepared to ventilate the room or area.
