My kids bathroom was painted a few years ago, and is just now starting to crack all over. How to fix it?

  1. Give it a block sanding using coarse paper… then apply joint compound with a wide trowel over all the cracking areas… let dry for several hours, then lightly sand with medium paper… next prime all surfaces using a pigmented shellac sealer primer… finish coat with Sherwin Williams Classic-99 Semi Gloss Latex…

  2. To fix cracking paint in a bathroom, follow these steps:

    1. Scrape off loose and cracking paint using a putty knife.
    2. Sand the area to smooth out any remaining rough edges.
    3. Clean the wall with a mild detergent to remove any dust or debris.
    4. Apply a coat of primer to the cracked areas to help the new paint adhere better.
    5. Allow the primer to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
    6. Apply a coat of high-quality paint specifically designed for bathrooms, as it is more resistant to moisture and humidity.
    7. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly before applying a second coat if necessary.
    8. Consider using a bathroom-specific paint additive to prevent future cracking due to moisture.
    9. Inspect the entire bathroom for any other areas of cracking and repeat the above steps as needed.
    10. Ensure proper ventilation in the bathroom to help the paint cure and prevent future issues.

By following these steps, you can effectively repair the cracking paint in your kids’ bathroom and prevent it from recurring in the future.
