Just use soap and water with a little TSP and use a rag and your garden hose… no need for pressure washing beyond that… then you can repaint it…
Using TSP (trisodium phosphate) and a pressure washer to clean your vinyl-sided house can be done safely if done properly. However, there are some important considerations to keep in mind.
TSP is a strong cleaner that can effectively remove dirt, grime, and mildew from surfaces. When using TSP on vinyl siding, it is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully to ensure it is diluted properly. Using TSP at full strength or in high concentrations can damage vinyl siding, so it is crucial to use it in the recommended dilution ratio.
Pressure washing can also be an effective way to clean your home’s exterior surfaces, including vinyl siding. However, it is important to use the appropriate pressure setting to avoid damaging the vinyl siding. Using too high pressure can cause the siding to warp, crack, or come loose. It is recommended to start with a lower pressure setting and gradually increase as needed, being cautious not to get too close to the surface.
Given that your house is 6 years old and the paint is faded and thin, it is even more important to exercise caution when using TSP and a pressure washer. The fading and thin paint may indicate that the siding is more vulnerable to damage, so it is crucial to be gentle when cleaning to avoid causing further harm.
