TSP is a concern when it is used "above" any surface. Streaking is a common hazard and steps should be taken to minimize. Not certain as to what is referenced by "composite" roof. TSP will discolor any unfinished wood such as cedar and cypress. It will also discolor aluminum and galvanized metal.
If you need to clean, wet all the below surfaces before, during and following the application of TSP. Try to not use in direct sun.
A common error is to mix the TSP too strong. Follow the label directions.
It is not recommended to clean a composite roof around a chimney with Trisodium Phosphate (TSP) due to potential damage it can cause to the roof material. TSP is a powerful cleaning agent that can be too harsh for composite roof materials, leading to discoloration, fading, or even degradation of the surface. Instead, for cleaning stains around a chimney on a composite roof, a gentler and more suitable cleaning solution should be used, such as a mixture of mild detergent and water. Additionally, utilizing a soft-bristled brush or sponge to gently scrub the area can help remove stains without causing harm to the roof. It is crucial to always follow manufacturer recommendations and guidelines for cleaning composite roofs to ensure their longevity and appearance are maintained. Be cautious with the type of cleaning products and tools used to avoid any unintended damage to the roof surface.
