You can fix your old pressed board cabinets without necessarily replacing them. To address the broken corners, consider using wood filler (epoxy wood filler is best) to rebuild the missing areas. After filling and sanding the corners smooth, you can repaint or refinish the cabinets for a fresh look.
As for the peeling laminate, carefully remove the damaged sections and apply contact cement to adhere new laminate sheets. Trim the excess with a sharp blade for a clean finish. Additionally, consider adding edge banding to reinforce corners and prevent future damage. Alternately, simply peel back any loose paper, cut to remove then apply a filler to the edges (Bondo or similar), sand smoother then prime.
Also, the drawers with their fronts can be replaced. This is a good time to consider replacing the doors as well for a new look. Keep the boxes in place. Paint everything for a “new” kitchen. With some patience and DIY skills, you can restore your cabinets to their former glory without the need for a complete replacement.
