4 Things to do with Old Paint Samples Instead of Throwing Them Out

share

Do you have old paint sample pots lying around collecting dust and taking up valuable storage space? If you do, you are going to want to read this article. Instead of throwing your old paint samples in the trash, consider trying one of these ways to use them instead of throwing them in the trash.

1. Use them to paint old furniture.

Updating your old furniture is a great way to use your old paint samples. If you have ever purchased furniture paint, you know it can be expensive. There is no point in wasting money one more paint when you can use what you already have on hand. Have more than one sample laying around? Try mixing them together to create a custom color.

2. Use them in arts and crafts projects.

If you have kids and are looking for a way to keep them entertained, give them paint. Now of course you will need to supervise but, this is a great way to use up your old paint samples while letting your kids get creative. If you have a blank wall that could use a little artwork, why not have your kids create something? It will add character to your wall while giving your kids a chance to do something they have always wanted to do, color on the walls! If you don’t have a wall in your home you are willing to use as a canvas, good old paper will work just as well.

3. Donate them.

Often, schools and recreation centers are in need of supplies, including paint. You can check with your local schools and recreation centers to see if they will accept donations of the old paint samples. You can also donate them to friends and family. If you know of someone looking to choose a paint color to repaint a room in their home, you can ask them if they’d like to test out the colors you have. This way, they save money and you feel better about not tossing the sample in the garbage.

4. Recycle them.

Why throw your paint samples in the trash having them land up in the landfill if you can easily recycle them? If you have used up the entire paint sample and there is just the empty container left, recycle it. If you still have paint in the pots, call your local recycling center. They can direct you to the proper recycling outfit. Just think, by taking the step to recycle the paint pot, you are doing your part in helping the environment.
