Painted grapes and leaves on sheetrock

share

About 20 years ago, I had a lady come and paint Purple grapes and green leaves on vines in my kitchen.  The walls are sheetrock.  I want to update and paint over the grapes and leaves.  She painted with flat acrylic paint.  Please tell me what to do to cover the paint so it doesn’t bleed through.  Do I sand first and then put a couple of coats of Kilz primer?  The walls are smooth.

  1. Just prime the whole wall with a Pigmented Shellac Sealer Primer, 1 heavy coat or until it drys hiding the faux decoration completely… then topcoat with acrylic latex (kitchens usually look best with a satin or semi gloss finish) 1 heavy coat is enough… color of choice… Good Luck!
