My contractor installed new double fiberglass entry doors. Doors are rubbing when opening and closing. Contractor says no more adjustments are possible. Afraid to let him proceed with staining. Can the door edge be lightly sanded to create a smooth operation?

I stripped & primed my mahogany entry door and painted it red using Valspar exterior latex. It is blotchy with very uneven coverage & brush strokes. It has raised panels with routed trim applied, so brushing seems necessary. Previous finish was red latex and it was applied with no problem.
