Our redwood house has been oiled with shingle oil for 40 years and is turning black. We can rub the boards with a dry cloth and the black comes off. What can we finish it with that will not turn dark? Can this house ever be painted?

I’d like to re-paint my bedroom. However, the dark red paint that is currently on the walls looks to have been applied too thick. There are a few drips here and there and it’s peeling up near the floor boards. Is sanding the walls sufficient? Or is there another way

We have casement windows we would like to paint. They have been stained and varnished. After sanding them, is it best to use an oil based primer and then a latex paint. Is it good to put on two coats of paint? Thanks. I am painting just the sash.
