How do I remove wallpaper over green board?

share

We are having a complete bathroom remodel. I am stripping the wallpaper. All of the walls are of greenboard. The top part of the wall near the ceiling has been a breeze to strip. It just comes right off. The lower half of the wall is more difficult. The question is:

Can I use DIF or Chomp on these hard to remove pieces of wall paper? I don’t want to damage the greenboard. I didn’t know if the chemicals from the wallpaper stripper would damage what ever in the greenboard that makes it better for moisture.

I am down to using my fingernails to scrap off small pieces.

  1. Wallpaper stripper shouldn't hurt your greenboard. It is a very resilient form of drywall. The alternative is causing considerable damage with excessive scraping. Wallpaper stripper will help, that's for sure, but keep your fingernails ready just in case.
