My house has gray siding with black trim for the base and shutters. Should I paint my front door red, even though I have a white & glass storm door?

We just hired a painter to paint our bathroom at $30 per hour. He was going to charge same rate to clean up mess plus we also paid for tack cloth, hand mask and blade whatever those items are? Is this fair?
