Restaining cedar siding.

Our cedar house has gone black from mold. We have washed it with mildew remover. We would like to do a solid stain on top of some of the black that can’t be removed.

  1. Not to discourage the application of a solid stain, but there are products which will help in bleaching the mold stains from your siding. If interested, check with your local paint dealer for the proper products.

As for solid or semi-transparent stain… this is a personal choice.

Semi-transparent stain allows the texture and the grain to be seen while merely toning the wood. This stain needs to be applied every 12 – 18 months.

Solid color stain will still allow the texture of the wood to be seen while hiding the graining. This product will give 2-3 years service before re-coating is required.
