Mold on redwood siding.

share

It appears that the mold is in the redwood siding. I am preparing the surface to repaint and bare wood has been exposed to elements. When I sand it down to clean wood I still see dark spots. Will this affect paint coating. I use an oil primer to stop stain bleed through, then latex primer and then two coats of latex topcoat.

  1. If you are "painting" as opposed to staining the siding, use the primer on clean wood and you should have no ill effects from any staining or discoloration.

Your use of an exterior alkyd is spot on.
