Well, any neutral colors will work well. For the kitchen specifically, I would go with a beige color. Any light color will look great with your kitchen. You can't go dark because it will clash with the cabinets and your granite counter tops. So choose from creams, beige colors as well as ivory.
The black will, of course, suit absolutely anything. Chocolate brown is a classic color choice with cherry red. In most rooms there would be a danger that you'd feel like you're inside an ice-cream sundae but for a kitchen (given decent light) that is a definite plus. Other colors worth checking out are burnt sienna, maroon, forest green and indian red.
