Tinted top coats?

share

I made the mistake of buying unfinished furniture with the intention of staining the items to fit my bedroom. The stain was supposed to be amber color but instead looks orange. I didn’t notice it until I had put the top coats on so I cant restain unless I sand the entire item down to bare wood which I don’t want to do. Will adding a tinted top coat to the items help? I want the item to darken at least. The stain and top coat I used was oil based. Thanks!

  1. As long as you didn't apply anything over the first coat of stain (ie I don't know what you mean by "top coat"), you can apply a second coat of DARKER stain over it…

Please read thru my web page all about Staining: <a rel="nofollow" href="//davmagic.com/paint/PAGES25.html" target="_blank">//davmagic.com/paint/PAGES25.html</a>
