Refinishing Table Question

share

I am in the process of refinishing a set of furniture, eight beautiful pieces. They were originally called “Rio Grande” from Pier One. My problem is I cant quite figure out what the original finish was. I would greatly appreciate it if you could shed some insight as to what was done originally to these pieces? Thanks in advance.

  1. Irregardless of what finish they have now (probably just stained with a wood sealer applied over the stain) you need to explain exactly what you mean by "refinishing" here! There are countless ways to "refinish" furniture like this… probably the easiest is to lightly sand with fine paper, wipe clean with lacquer thinner and rag, then finish coat with Varnish… clear, either satin or semi gloss or gloss…

  2. Well I will be completely sanding them down to their natural wood and starting from there to replicate the way they look now!
