We bought this house and the kitchen cabinets were painted. I stripped paint off and found that they were maple cupboards. I sanded cupboards down, then applied a sanding sealer, sanded that down lightly, put stain on lightly, the color is perfect. But after 12 hours it is kinda tacky.
